As I write, it is now mid August, the men folk have been to and returned from Portugal. I was relocated to Leo’s and, I confess, enjoyed it, barring the times Annie, his domestic goddess, got under my feet, or I got under hers, I forget which. She threatened me with a feather duster at one point, though I doubt it was physically possible to do what she said she’d do with it.

Leo threatened to lock me in a puppy cage while he was at work if I didn’t keep my pesky nose out of Annie’s business, and thus we all settled down in happy harmony.

I read, watched telly, relaxed and played with Genny while allowing Annie to get on with her work without my expert input. Her loss, I say. I have ways and means of making things shine that she can only dream about!

Leo and I cooked up some new recipes together and he even indulged this bébé brat with a trip to the cinema to see the new Marvel film, Ant Man. He said it was childish, moronic rubbish, but he loved it really. It’s why he’s jealous of Shane and Dick, cos they’ve got me to keep them young.

Speaking of the men folk, they resolved the Portuguese apartment crisis and gave me an insight into what had caused it, or at least Dick did, under interrogation from me. Let’s just say I caught him at a weak moment with his pants down.

As far as I understand, the freeholder of the apartment they have leased for some time has become a radical Christian convert. As a new fledged fundamental, said leaseholder felt obliged to take offence at the idea of gay men enjoying their lives on a par with everyone else. Born gay? Live in guilt and misery! He wanted to forfeit the lease prematurely and was prepared to go to extraordinary lengths to achieve it. Religion brings out the noxious worst in some specimens of humanity. He got his wish, though not on his preferred terms. Shane, according to Dick, played Pied Piper and made the swine pay, in a legal sense, for prematurely clearing the apartment of its sodomite vermin. They lost their beloved bolthole, but at least were not out of pocket financially.

Discovering what had caused my men to venture abroad without me (resulting in a visit by the green eyed monster) brought about a prolonged and rabid houseboy rant about born again twats and bastards - thus exemplifying why my two prefer to tell me nowt. They can’t stand the stress.

They refuse to be drawn on whether they are looking for another love nest out there. Their place, their space you see and at this moment in time I’m okay with that. My jealousy is on holiday, and I’m hoping he never returns from it.

That’s me finished here. The snail affair, a slow moving tale of something and nothing has been told at last. I’m off to do what a born again houseboy has to do in the normal day-to-day range of things.
